It’s that time of year again when thousands of primary schools all over the UK gear up for the yearly nativity play which traditionally recounts the Nativity Story of Jesus. It has been a long-standing tradition that pupils dress up as variety of the characters including the humans, animals, shepherds and angles. By performing the nativity plays in a dominant Christian country such as the UK, helps young children understand in more detail the life of Jesus and what the celebration of Christmas is all about. In recent times with the increase of other religions and cultures the performance of Nativity plays have been under pressure as parents of different religious background wish for a multicultural approach rather than following just one religion.
