We mentioned on the blog a while ago the new up and coming Captain America film “Captain America: The First Avenger 3D” and following its release today we’re pleased to say that critics are saying this won’t disappoint! The plot shows Rogers rather desperate to join the army to be a fighter against the Nazi’s with him applying five times to join in five different cities. Luckily for Rogers his persistence pays off, with him being accepted into a super soldier program where Rogers is transformed into the unmistakable Captain America! The film’s producers picked weedy man Steve Rogers who on the surface looks nothing like a superhero and reports suggested that producers also used special software to give him his feeble appearance. A review in yesterdays Daily Mail gave the film a whopping 4 out of 5 stars and the following are some snippets taken from the review:
“No one is going to pretend that this is art, psychologically profound or anything other than preposterous. It is a popcorn movie, but much better than most of its kind.
Director Joe Johnston makes populist movies, but he showed a flair for period in The Rocketeer and a grasp of dealing with actors in Jurassic Park III.
Benjamin Button-style special effects work extremely effectively to render Chris Evans both smaller and larger than life. But Evans brings warmth and dignity to a role that could easily have been camped up.
He’s much more impressive here than he was in the Fantastic Four franchise. However, the idea of a Nazi bent on world domination is more than a little yawnworthy, and not even Hugo Weaving can give this villain much that’s fresh.
His performance is too one-note, and Toby Jones makes more of an impression as his shifty sidekick.”
